Smartphone of the Year?

The BlackBerry P’9981 designed by Porsche Design was honoured at the Plus X Award 2012.

It hasn’t only been awarded but also called the ‘Smartphone of the Year 2012’ by a jury at the Plus X Award. Plus X Award is an annual event that features IFA international fair, the largest consumer electronics fair in Berlin, Europe. The Plus X Award honours products from the sport and lifestyle category for their innovative technologies and also honours manufacturers for their quality advantage.

It looks like BlackBerry is the last smartphone that still uses a classic keyboard. Maybe it says something about their users. I am really wondering why?

Booth directors about co-operation:

“Porsche Design has been a symbol for Iconic Style since 1972,” says Dr. Juergen Gessler, CEO of the Porsche Design Group. “Products with clean lines and no frills are at the heart of our design philosophy. Our collaboration with BlackBerry led to a smartphone that implements our credo without compromises. The Porsche Design P’9981 Smartphone by BlackBerry is a modern luxury smartphone that combines timeless design with state-of-the-art technology.”

Axel Kettenring, Managing Director RIM Germany, says: “We are very proud to receive this seal of quality. Receiving the Plus X Award for the Porsche Design P’9981 smartphone confirms we are operating at the cutting edge with our demand for design and quality.”
