There was much more about 3D Printing in Milan this year.

At The Salone Satelite at Salone del Mobile Milano, I spotted projects from XUBERANCE.

XUBERANCE is an internationally renowned 3D Printing Design Company headquartered in Shanghai, which provides three – dimensional design and research services worldwide dedicated to customize design and 3D printing-related research, development and user-training. The company was founded by Steven Ma in Vienna in 2008 and moved together with Ma’s partners Bin Lu and Leirah Wang to Shanghai in 2014. They have become China’s first professional 3D printing Design Company. Check their Wedding Series and Influs project designed by Christos Koukis, or the Phoenix concept designed by Steven Ma and Himmel Wang.

Fusion of digital and analogue.

At the Ventura Lambrate, at the exposition by the University of Art and Design Burg Giebichenstein Halle, Germany, I noticed this beautiful fusion of technique and technology. It was designed and made by Marcel Krummenacher. The point of departure of this project was the question how an analogue product can benefit from digital tools like 3D printing. Following this question, the vase “Choice” was created. The base of the vase is an analogue contorted body. A digitally generated attachment is added to the base body of the vase. Through the possibility to change the diameter of the vase’s mouth optionally, the vase’s spectrum of application is extended – be it an opulent bunch of tulips or some field flowers. Additionally, the grid form of the attachment provides the fundament for various flower arrangements, making the vase suitable for every occasion.
