Made in Brainport exhibition in Munich

Exposition Made in Brainport – 6 Degrees Of Smart Society during the Munich Creative Business Week from 07 to 09 February 2012

Following the successful trade mission to Istanbul in September 2011, Capital D organised a trade mission to Munich. The mission took place from Tuesday the 7th till Thursday the 9th of February. Similar to the trade mission in Istanbul, this mission was organised around the exhibition Made in Brainport. The Made in Brainport exhibition with its 300 m2 space in Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst (Neubau) represented a substantial part of the Munich Creative Business Week. The programme consisted of lectures, excursions, company visits and networking opportunities.

Due to the development of the creative economy, our social values and personal & professional relationships are changing. The 21st century demands a strong swarm society network for Brainport to present itself worldwide as the perfect location for innovative companies, national cultural facilities, knowledge centres, educational institutes and strong European economic clusters.

Zuzanna Skalska, trend watcher at VanBerlo and curator of the fifth Made in Brainport exhibition, designed a new Brainport presentation based on the principles of the network of  ‘Six degrees of Separation’. The top sectors in Brainport are: High-tech materials, Food, Automotive, Home, Care and Energy. These six top sectors are connected through the themes of Farming, Well-being, Technology, Environment, Craft and Local. The themes are divided into rational and emotional zones, which are illustrated by products, samples, movies and interactive technology that represent design companies, manufacturers, suppliers, brands, technology centres and education in Brainport.
