ISPO 2014: Branded brands

The outdoor industry is becoming more and more lifestyle-focussed. This year I was really surprised by the absence of a number of brands (e.g. Crocs, Converse, etc.). There is a clear shift within the sports branch that is moving towards new interactive territories and welcoming new brands.


Founded in Ibiza in 1984 by Swiss designer Thomas Meyer – still the company’s sole shareholder – Desigual says its mission is to put at least one item into every wardrobe in the world. The most characteristic about this brand is their bright colours and busy, optical patterns. The Spanish fashion label is accelerating its expansion in Europe and emerging markets, targeting young and demanding women. Besides the perfumes and shoes market, Desigual is also expanding into the sports apparel. Desigual launches its first line of women’s athletic garments, footwear and accessories under the premise “It’s not the same”. The new collection is proof that performance and technology can go hand in hand with creative, casual, feminine and sexy design full of imagination and creativity.

Already for the third time, Lego Wear was present at ISPO, this year with a big booth and loud campaign. LEGO Wear clothes are for active and happy children. Top quality clothes that withstand any kind of play and at the same time ensuring that the child can move freely and without limitations. The collection includes LEGOTec and LEGO DUPLO. LEGOTec is a functional outerwear collection for children. Designed for outdoor play in snow, rain and mud. The collection consists of jackets, ski pants, coveralls, fleece ski pullovers, soft shells, ski underwear and accessories in bright, strong and appealing colours. The LEGO Tec programme has everything a child needs to be best dressed during the winter season. The LEGO DUPLO collection is for children aged 9 months to 4 years.

National Geographic

The National Geographic Society is one of the world ́s largest non-profit scientific and educational organisations. Founded in 1888 to “increase and diffuse geographic knowledge”, the Society works to inspire people to care about the planet. It has granted more than 150 million dollars worldwide and has funded more than 10,000 scientific research, conservation and exploration projects around the globe. National Geographic reflects the world through its magazines, television programmes, films, music and radio, books, DVDs, maps, exhibitions, live events, school publishing programmes, interactive media and merchandise. In 2006 Worldwide Retail Store and National Geographic (NG) established a global network of stores under the NG trademark. Branded products were presented at this year ISPO.
