IFA 2012: Nostalgic stitch

Sewing lessons using a sewing machine were a mandatory part of my basic school years. Back then we had an old-fashioned, antique, treadle Singer’s sewing machine. In spite of their old age, they were working perfectly.

Today, most of us prefer spending time at the high street shops to choose the latest fashion items without even thinking of making them ourselves.

But times are changing and (hand) craft design is becoming very fashionable. To support this trend, the cult brand Singer launched its Singer 160 – limited edition sewing machine. This special issue is to celebrate the 160th anniversary of the Singer Brand. They took their retro design look from the past and equipped it with the most modern electronic features.
